Having lived and grew up in that country, let me tell you that Tyler Cowen's arguments 1 & 3 are exactly the kind of sentiment you would encounter in NZ. It's simply uncool to admit you want money. We are still coming to grips with the idea that people want to be paid to play rugby and still haven't forgiven Russell Coutts yet (long story) and it explains why, after making tons and tons of money, Peter Jackson still owns only one suit.
