Lectures are available in three versions: outlines, slides and Powerpoint presentations.

  • Outlines consist of text extracted from Powerpoint presentations as shown in class. They
  • transfer instantly
  • but have goofy formatting
  • and omit illustrations, maps, and graphs
  • Slides are screen captured images of Powerpoint presentations. They
  • transfer slowly
  • and have poor screen resolution
  • but help review illustrations, maps, and graphs shown in the lecture
  • Powerpoint shows require a lot of resources:
  • Win95 and Office97 (not tested on Office95)
  • ~10 mb free disc space
  • lots of memory
  • a fiber-optic connection (modems are too slow)
  • and endless patience for downloading files
