The current release of the IPUMS-International database is a preliminary version. It consists of 21 samples of census microdata from 6 countries and contains records for 48 million individuals. We invite researchers to use the data for scholarly and educational purposes, but to do so they must apply for access.

Apply for access. Potential users of IPUMS-International data must describe their research projects and agree to specific conditions that protect respondent confidentiality and honor our agreements with national census offices.

Create an extract. Once users have received e-mail confirmation that they are licensed to access the data, they may log in and create an extract.

Download extracts. Approved users who have created customize extracts of IPUMS-International data can download their data by logging in.

Citation. Any publications or educational materials based on these data and the accompanying documentation must appropriately cite IPUMS-International.
